Does anyone else get calls from this number - 08435 941 173. It is a company either selling "Payment Protection Insurance" or trying to get your unsolicited business. I did not want their call, never requested their call and will make it public to anyone who is interested in trying to stop this practice.
Had missed calls a few times now but never no responce if i call back?

This is a nuisance call number from a company selling payment protection insurance. I keep getting calls like this. When asked for their direct phone number, I was simply disconnected.
I receive numerous calls from companies wanting to help with PPI claims every day. They normally ask you to press 5 for more information or 9 in order to stop receiving calls - I have been pressing 9 on every call the last few months. I am currently signed off sick and am fed up with getting these calls so I decided to press 5, and was greeted with a 'PPI Helpline...' I said I had been receiving numerous calls a day and wanted to be removed from their list, the line went dead and then started ringing again, I presumed I was being put through to another department. Then the voice came saying the other person has disconnected. After doing 1471 I noted down the number: 0843 594 2173. I am sure I will end up being charged for pressing 5 to be put through. Does anybody know how to stop these calls?

PPI Helpline nuisance calls -
I have just found this on www.moneysavingexpert.com:
'The Ministry of Justice has closed down 353 claims firms in the four years since it began regulating the industry. This is across its entire remit, which is much more than just PPI or cold-calling.
It wants anyone who receives an unsolicited call or text to report it at info@claimsregulation.gov.uk or by calling 0845 450 6858.'
I will be emailing them with details of any further calls I get. I urge anyone else to do the same.

Anon possibly a scammer
The message posted on June 28th at 12:02 refers to a site which has a 'Phishing Warning", so possibly anon is keeping his identity private because he is a con artist, and maybe works for these phone nuisances. BEWARE

Complain to the Regulator
Making unsolicited recorded calls is illegal. The Information Commissioner's Office is responsible for upholding the regulations.
The ICO can fine the company behind these calls up to £500,000 - but it needs to receive lots of complaints. Every time you receive a call (expect at least three a day for months on end from a variety of 0843 numbers) you should complain, even if you have already complained - the VOLUME of complaints will make a difference to the size of the fine.
The Information Commissioner's Office has set up an online form to deal with complaints - you don't even have to leave your details.
